		Part I Tales of Old  In the beginning of our clan's time it was a time of great strife and darkness.  Our great clan was once no more than a band of rogues trying pitifully to survive. Our benevolent sun granted us plenty of prey, penetrating even the thickest of foliage to provide light and happiness to our clan. As I'm sure you know, there were many others who envied our clan's brilliance. There were many who coveted our lush lands, specifically those who lived on the mountains. The sun's heat was harsh upon their lands, beating down and destroying any fruitful sources of prey. They turned in anger upon SunClan, growing jealous of the plentiful harvests SunClan often had.  We were able to fend them off but the constant strife and fighting was draining upon all of the clans.  After one particularly terrible battle where more cats perished than survived, the first medicine cat Littlewing looked to the clouds for guidance. He decided that ascending the tallest peak in the territory called the Zenith would be the best chance to speak with their starry ancestors. He pleaded with our fallen kin to save us from this constant death and despair but to no avail. The skies did not part, nor did the heavens call down to those on the ground. "Why?! Why are you silent in our darkest hours?" Littlecloud whimpered, but the only voice he heard was his own agonizing cries. After a while his sobs ebbed and faded, but his resolve strengthened. It was up to him to make sure that the clans did not lose their way. "Even still, I will not turn my back on my ancestors. I will find a way to ensure your lives were not lost in vain."  Littlecloud eventually turned around to descend the mountain, intending to head back to his wounded clan. Just as his paws were nearing the edge of the clearing a loud boom rumbled across the lands and a vision of a sunny lion spread across the sky. "Littlecloud, we have seen your clan's grief. No clan deserves to suffer as you have. For your persistent faith in us, we shall aid you in your matters." A low, thunderous roar then echoed across the lands. A blindingly brilliant light crashed from the skies, bringing forth a cat whose fur glimmered with the fiery light of the sun.  "My name is Sunstar, and I am here to guide you to the path of the righteous."  It was after this great altercation that Sunstar passed judgement upon the other clans who turned upon the stars to attack our heavenly land.  IceClan was banished from the Stars, their future kin destined to prove themselves if they ever hoped to enter the starry lands of their ancestors. Sunstar removed the sunlight from IceClan's territory due to their sins, causing them to be cast into an eternal winter. MoonClan, however, ignored the rulings of the stars. Their leader chose instead to find another place of rest for their ancestors, cutting off those from StarClan entirely.  Sunstar took the time to organize our clan, teaching us the ways and rituals of the stars so we would never forget to pay tribute to our faith. We were graced by the heavens for our beliefs, and thus shall never forget our place among the stars. It was then that our clan was created to pass judgement upon those who commit wrongdoings, and to forever be protectors of the code StarClan has given unto us.

Meet the leaders

[attr="class","paradebox"] Sunstar "I have named you after the brightest star in the sky, as you shall become the light in this forest. " Descended from the heavens himself. Sunstar is a cat from SunClan who descended from the stars to answer the prayers of the first medicine cat, Littlecloud. Very little is known about the original identity of Sunstar, but it is assumed he died many moons ago in the fighting that ensued before the times of SunClan. He cast IceClan into an eternal winter, cursing them to never enjoy the warm sunlight in their territory again. He also cursed both MoonClan and IceClan for attempting to destroy the sun and decreed that they shall only be able to enter the starry lands of their ancestors if they should atone for their sins. Shortly after teaching the clan the ways and rituals of StarClan he vanished, leaving the cat he taught medicine and warmth to behind. He briefly fell in love with Mothstar, but it was not his time to stay in the clans. He ascended to StarClan before he could ask her true feelings, and never fully knew how she felt about him.

[attr="class","paradebox"] Mothstar "Never forget that you were once young, and that someone took the time to teach you." Mothlight was the first and only apprentice of Littlecloud, and the founder of modern medicinal practices as we know them. She was a bright medicine cat, becoming the first Head Medicine Cat after establishing the hierarchy of Medicine Cats as SunClan knows today.  She studied hard over the course of her life, ignoring suitors and relationships in favor of her fervent beliefs in the medicinal arts. Through her efforts she learned how to grow herbs herself and taught many others how to do the same.  The large garden of herbs that SunClan has today was made mostly by her efforts to find ways to cultivate herbs, and her methods are still studied and used today.  She learned a lot from the former Sunstar before he left and, due to her commitment to serving her clan, she was given the role of a leader. Her leadership was bumpy initially. She discovered she knew very little about the ways of the warriors and struggled intensely to understand the preferences and opinions of the warriors she led. She realized that in order for a cat to become leader in the future, they would have to understand both parts of the clan in order to be considered for leadership lest it cause strife amongst the clan.  Mothstar was never made aware of Sunstar's feelings for her as she was always too focused on her work to attend to her personal life... to include her relationship with her brother, Aphidstar.  Mothstar was known for her kindness and generosity in her life after giving IceClan herbs when the terrible winters caused mass illnesses to plague the clan. She couldn't stand by idle and watch another clan perish, even if they harmed her clan once terribly.  Later in her life Mothstar caught the illness that plagued IceClan yearly and unfortunately passed away. It is said that when her soul passed to StarClan, a bright light appeared over IceClan's territory and cured them of their terrible sickness for many moons.  "No cat deserves to suffer, no matter what crime they may have committed."

[attr="class","paradebox"] Aphidstar "I will do whatever it takes to ensure justice is delivered across these forests." The brother who lived in the shadows.  Aphidwing was born after his sister and forever lived in her shadow. After Sunstar took a liking to her early in her medicine cat career she was often the center of attention of the clan. This didn't bother Aphidstar one bit; he loved his sister more than he cared to admit.  Instead of wanting the attention of his clanmates, the only she-cats eyes he wanted on him was that of his sister. He admired her more than anything and strove to be the best warrior he could be to aid her in her journey to make the clan better.  He was the very first Head Warrior of the clan and struggled very hard to come up with intense fighting regimens for all warriors interested in defending the clan.  He established the same border paths used today by warriors to patrol the territory and many of the battle moves SunClan uses today were devised during his time as a Head Warrior. All he ever wanted was for Mothstar to say how proud she was of him. Unfortunately he never got to hear those words as IceClan's yearly needs and the needs of their clan often preoccupied all of Mothstar's time.  After her death, Aphidwing went insane with grief and blamed IceClan for working her into the ground in order to lessen their burden of the punishment they were given by Sunstar. He was so angered by the death of his sister, he devised a plan to exact justice on IceClan for disobeying the punishment given to them by the stars. After disguising his scent rolling in the Dragonfly Mire, he planted a fake sign on top of the Warming Stone atop the Zenith Peak in the territory, an area where all medicine cats gathered once every week to ask for guidance from the stars.  A leaf infested with dead aphids.  He became leader after that point and told all the clan that StarClan themselves had sent him a sign that they must punish IceClan for evading their punishment, leading them into a vicious battle against IceClan where Aphidstar perished valiantly in combat.  Unfortunately his leadership was not recognized by the stars. On their next visit to the Zenith Peak, all medicine cats were given instructions to be more careful about the "signs" they accepted, and to warn all of the clan to not give in to the temptation of deceit.  His story became a warning to all those who might try to use the name of StarClan to further their deceit, showing that StarClan will bring a swift end to those who misrepresent the meaning of StarClan's justice.

[attr="class","paradebox"] Pearlstar "Violence is never an answer or solution to the problems we will face." Pearlpelt was but an apprentice when Sunstar was first introduced into the forest. He had yet to find his path until the kind warmth of Mothstar ushered him into the pawsteps of a medicine cat.  He learned a lot from her leadership and paid close attention to her interactions with other cats, specifically with those of her brother.  Something always felt off about Aphidstar's gaze to him, but he could never put his paw on it. He and Aphid constantly argued with one another as Aphid was jealous of his involvement with Mothstar.  After the death of Mothstar, he was named as a head medicine cat in her place due to how closely he studied under her. He devoted his life similarly to the path of a medicine cat and never took a mate, creating the rule that head medicine cats could not take a mate due to the nature of their role. They simply did not have the time for mates, and such an involvement with another cat would only hinder the development of medicinal science within the clans.  It was after her death though that his relationship with Aphid took a turn for the worse. He was ascending the stones to the Zenith early after the death of Mothstar, intending to ask StarClan questions privately before the other medicine cats arrived. It was then that he discovered Aphidwing placing his sign upon the rock. How dare he meddle in the affairs of StarClan! Pearlpelt had no time to confront him before the meeting at the Zenith, and decided to tell the other medicine cats about the false sign when they arrived.  Unfortunately none of the medicine cats believed him due to his intense arguments he often had with  Aphidwing, and they instead accused him of jealousy and deceit.  it was only after the battle that StarClan showed the other medicine cats how they were wrong and named Pearlstar to be the next leader after his wisdom and intense faith in the stars above.  Pearlstar led for a very long time, maintaining a pacifistic point of view until the very end. He furthered their medicinal studies in the name of Mothstar, devoting himself until the very end to the tasks she had done once before.  This is not to say Pearlstar's leadership was perfect; it was in fact quite the opposite. His pacifism led to SunClan losing a large amount of territory during his leadership; specifically the entire mountain ridge above their clan was lost to MoonClan.  His leadership was an example to the clan to not confuse pacifism with passivism; that it is important to keep your claws sharpened in case justice is ever needed to be dealt in the name of the holy StarClan.

[attr="class","paradebox"] Cloudstar "We must always look to the skies for answers, even when the darkest clouds block the stars." Cloudsoul was born very late into the leadership of Pearlstar. He was both a powerful warrior and a determined medicine cat who strove hard and valiantly for his clan.  His leadership was and is among the strongest SunClan has seen, with very minimal issues or hiccups along the way. He seemed wise beyond his years even as a young warrior, unfazed by any setbacks or problems during his youth.  He strove to never fall into the same pitfalls as Pearlstar whose passivism led to the clan losing many warriors and more territory than they could afford to lose. The ignorance of the former leader weighed most heavily in the harsh winters where Cloudstar became the first leader to barter lifesaving herbs for prey and small strips of land. He has lived a long life, but is still very strong and capable as a leader. Do not underestimate his fierce loyalty to his clan, and his intense beliefs in his ancestors.

[attr="class","basicbox2"] The Zenith  Once a month, all medicine cats ascend the largest peak in SunClan territory to commune with the stars when both the sun and moon rise clear and high in the sky.  It is during this time that they meet to interpret any dreams or signs they have been given from StarClan. Role of the Herbalist SunClan places an emphasis on herbalism, cultivating herbs all months out of the year. They have become proficient in drying and maintaining herbs that they grow close to the lake to make efforts to water them with moss easier.  They use these herbs on occasion to trade for important things such as prey.  Leadership In order to become a leader, a cat must be proficient in both herbalism and combat. No cat can become leader without having first became a head warrior or head herbalist, and must have a paw in both worlds. Rules and Regulations SunClan explicitly does not allow breaking of the warrior code. I M P O R T A N T    N O T E S

(Please read before attempting to make a cat, as there are unique rules and guidelines for every clan.) 

1. Appearances...)	Cats in SunClan come in primarily brighter colors to blend into the golden and warm landscape they have.  They believe that the lighter the cat's pelt, the purer  their heart is. As such, be prepared for most cats that have darker pelts to become warriors or face heavy  stigma from other medicine cats. They typically have very thin coats due to the constant sunshine and eternal summer in their  territory. If your cat does not have this, your cat will most likely be overheated easily and suffer so keep this in mind while designing your cat.
2. Migration and Backstories...)	SunClan is a clan built on trust and amnesty with other  clans. They very rarely fight or skirmish with other clans as they prefer to find more pacifistic solutions where  possible.  As a result, SunClan cats typically tend to be more open and empathetic towards those in pain or trouble.  They have a strong sense of justice and cats who don't fit this tend to be exiled very quickly... specifically cats who don't believe in StarClan or who betray StarClan's rules. Cats who do not believe in StarClan or who have kits  with a another cat outside of the clan are exiled as soon as this fact is discovered in hopes to prevent the wrath of StarClan from falling upon the clan, so keep this in mind when designing your cat.
