| Part I Tales of Old Many ages before the creation of our clan our moon stood proudly above the world, flooding it with the brilliant light we have come to know and love. But as many cats may know, our light was not always quite so benevolent. Once many eons ago, our shining light was combined with the brilliant sun we know of during the day. It was so blinding that our world struggled to survive; the plants were scorched and dried from the harsh light. It was impossible to raise kits in this time. Clans were unable to exist as every cat had to fight hard for their own survival. One bitter moon a queen gave birth, only to find her milk was dried out. Her sorrowful tears could do nothing to feed her kit as it starved and wasted away with pitiful mewling. It is said that this kit's suffering was so great and its thirst for life so unquenched that when its spirit soared into the sky it rebelled against the clutches of death, breaking the sun in half in it's anger. Afterwards, the sun went dark for many ages and the sky split in two with a fierce roar. From this crevice rose the likeness of our first leader, Moonstar. Moonstar descended from the heavens in order to lead the broken cats, unlike any other ancestor the cats had previously. The sun was broken and the world went dark for many years. Eventually she knew the sun would repair itself so she spent a large amount of time banding together the cats that would become our ancestors to help her when the time came. She was banished from the skies after her treasonous act to destroy the biggest star, never to set foot in the starry skies in her death. Instead she forever walks the earth; chasing the sun back out of the sky with the ancestors we know and love. Thanks to the actions of our first leader the sun no longer works all day and must go out at night, saving us from the eternal heat that once was. Perhaps when you pass from this world as well, you will go to help Moonstar as she chases the sun across the sky. It was then that our clan was created to balance these forests and to eternally be the observers and protectors of our so brilliant moon. | |

A beautiful she-cat with a pelt made of stars. It is said that she is the ultimate hunter, stalking the sun and chasing it out of the sky. Willing to stop at nothing to stop the deathly reign of terror that was the Sun, she willingly cast off her chances in the afterlife and all powers granted to her by StarClan for the security of her clan. There were many sacrifices Moonstar made for her clan, which is part of the reason why MoonClan does not believe in StarClan. StarClan forsake their clan from the moment it was created, casting them into metaphorical and literal darkness for their crimes. It is said that all MoonClan warriors go to help her hunt the sun after they pass from this world. | [attr="class","paradebox"]
One of the first followers of Moonstar. He was originally a believer in StarClan, but after witnessing her destroy the vile sun he pledged his life to her service. He fell deeply in love with his leader and was willing to chase her to the ends of the earth, but she was forced to turned him away as she had already passed from this world. Instead she left him with a promise, telling him that when his time comes he can aid her in spirit in the afterlife. A tom-cat with a kind heart, he led his clan well over the course of his life but his words and actions became tinged with sorrow after the disappearance of Moonstar. He took over her role dutifully, as it was the only way he felt close to her once more. It is said he follows in her footsteps to this day, his tail intertwined with hers in death as he wished they could've in life. | [attr="class","paradebox"]
A red tabby tom named after his auburn pelt. He was the first to start an uprising within the clan, urging them to conflict with other clans for the sake of MoonClan's prosperity. Softstar admired the determination of this feline, but was too short-sighted to see the dangerous ambition lurking under the surface until it was too late. Redstar waged many wars in his time with rogue packs and clans alike, even going as far as to set siege to a city in search of usable territory. Eventually his conquest was settled and MoonClan took over the largest stretch of mountainous territory, but at a large price. He died at the hands of another clanmate; a queen named Cloudwatcher whose kits paid the ultimate price and perished in the war. She could suffer this incessant bloodshed no longer and after she learned of the death of her last litter of kits, she slit his throat in his sleep. |

Sleekstar was a conniving cat in his time. He played the roles he saw best fitting the situation, and built himself a throne atop a mountain of lies. Sleekstar was born as a very sickly kit, unable to even nurse properly from his mother. As a result his apprenticeship started later than usual, but it put him on track to become an apprentice at the same time as Redstar. He followed along with Redstar, sensing that crossing him may not be his best decision. Redstar had a tendency to bully other cats which was something Sleekstar only participated in when necessary to obtain the favor of who he perceived to be his strongest clanmate. Over time Sleekstar began to agree with Redstar that their clan needed to expand and helped to plan his wars and schemes. Eventually he was promoted to the role of Deputy for his consistent allegiance to his comrade. It was only in Redstar's final battle that Sleekstar was forced to put his paw down. It was a crazy plan that jeopardized the safety of his clanmates! Redstar went along with the cruel plan anyways, using their own clan's kits as bait to attack an enemy clan. The kits unfortunately perished in the battle, and shortly after Redstar himself. Sleekstar was horrified by these actions and ceased all battles from then on for the rest of his life. He eventually passed from an incurable genetic condition that predisposed him to pnemonia. | [attr="class","paradebox"]
As the last surviving son of Cloudwatcher, Nightstar seemed like the perfect candidate for leadership. He was strong and noble; apprenticed by none other than Sleekstar himself, and had an aura of charisma that drew in many. Nightstar attacked his own mother as an apprentice when he discovered her brutally murdering their leader, Redstar. He hadn't been told of how Redstar killed his siblings and never found out as the rest of the clan was never made aware of the former leader's treachery. Unfortunately his mother's pacifistic ways did not entirely reach Nightstar and influences from the late Redstar did not help his situation. He absolutely idolized the former leader, but was not nearly as unstable in his conquest. Nightstar took a more subtle approach to conquest. He preferred to annihilate whatever enemies necessary via assassination or other methods, such as paying off rogues to do his dirty work. Manipulating clans into giving up all of their mountainous territory in exchange for small strips of land, he managed to acquire the most land of any leader while doing so in a more subtle and pacifistic manner. He convinced the clans he was doing them a favor taking it off of their paws as they couldn't use it anyways, and now he uses these mountain ridges to spy upon enemy clans as necessary. Of all the leaders Nightstar was definitely the most cunning in nature. Not much is known about his whereabouts, as he suddenly disappeared from the clan without a trace. It is assumed he is deceased, as Moonstar was able to grant Stormstar and Blossomstar each four lives. |

After being abandoned on the outskirts of MoonClan territory, Stormstar found herself in a whirlwind of new experiences. It was a long journey of self discovery, deceit, and dark secrets that led to her leadership. Stormstar's mother was a former SunClan cat named Amberdawn, and her father a senior warrior of MoonClan named Shadecrash. After tensions became high in the clans with a hostile gathering, Amberdawn met with him once more to tell of her pregnancy but was met with rejection by her former lover. Feeling shameful she ran away from the clans to give birth in a farmland not far from the clans. She knew she could never return to her clan due to the sins she bore, and decided to instead live a life of solitude. Amberdawn eventually gave birth to several kits and after deciding that only one should become a warrior she abandoned Stormkit on the outskirts of MoonClan territory to be raised in her father's clan as she was certain they would not recognize her. Unfortunately Cloudwatcher recognized Stormkit's familiar scent right away and despised her from the start. She knew Amberdawn's scent very well because Shadecrash (her former mate) had cheated on her with that very same cat. Despite this hatred she agreed to mother Stormkit along with her other kits born to Shadecrash, but she was not at all fair in her parenting. Stormkit was found by Autumnpaw who would eventually become her right hand man and deputy. He protected her many times during her apprenticeship from the angered kits of Cloudwatcher who shared a similar animosity towards Stormpaw. Eventually Stormwish became a warrior loved by the clan for her calm, tranquil, and charismatic nature. She desperately hoped to become deputy, but at the same time was competing with Rockjaw. Rockjaw was a very ambitious cat and the firstborn son of Cloudwatcher so naturally he despised Storm and everything she stood for. They fought very competitively over this position and seemed evenly matched despite Rockjaws unpleasant temperament. Rockjaw eventually revealed the nature of Stormstar's birth to her in an argument while he, Autumnleaf, and Stormwish were all on patrol. The argument quickly escalated and Rockjaw started to storm off in anger but wasn't quite looking where he was going. His paws slipped as the ground gave way under him and he started to fall down a steep cliff, yowling for help as the drop would most certainly result in his death. Stormwish stood and watched, part of her horrified with shock and the other unwilling to move to save him after the revelations he revealed to her in a most uncouth way. Storm couldn't bring herself to help him in time, and as his corpse slipped to the canyon below a part of her did as well; the sweet, innocent part of her that would never resurface again. She and Autumnleaf covered up the incident nicely, claiming he walked a bit too far away and was picked up by a hawk then dropped into the stream below as he bravely fought the predator. Unfortunately, this was only the start of the rabbit hole of lies and deceit she would spin for the sake of her clan. While reluctant to admit it a small part of her enjoys these chaotic lies, and the longer the web of deceit spins the bigger that part of her becomes. Blossomfall didn't believe for a second that her brother's death was an accident. She hated Storm from a young age without knowing why. Perhaps it was the attention her mother poured into Stormwish, even if it was in hatred. Perhaps it was the way Shadecrash only acknowledged Storm in order to spite his former mate. Perhaps it was nothing at all, but it was something to her. Blossomfall found herself slipping into the shoes her brother once filled; organizing patrols in the stead of her mother who was eventually to retire. Cloudwatcher's vision had slowly began to ebb, dulling by the day. It was obvious a new deputy would need to be chosen... but who? The clan was cleanly split in two; half favoring Stormwish, the other half favoring Blossomfall. The clan waited anxiously for the decision of its leader, but unfortunately the on the same day that Cloudwatcher formally retired, Nightstar suddenly went missing. The clan erupted into a rage, fighting and quarreling verbally amongst themselves over who had the right to claim the position of the new leader of the clan. Suddenly the clouds in the moonlit sky split in two, and the senior warriors interpreted this as a sign from Moonstar herself that the clan was to be given two leaders and deputies to solve the boiling animosity gathering within the clan. Another camp was created within the underground of the territory where one leader would stay in order to provide guidance to the warriors who ventured below the surface. Once every week the leaders would switch their positions, one residing within the main camp and the other residing below the mountains. |

I M P O R T A N T N O T E S
(Please read before attempting to make a cat, as there are unique rules and guidelines for every clan.)
1. Appearances...) | Cats in MoonClan come in all sorts of colors, but typically have very thick coats for dealing with harsh winds on the mountains. If your cat does not have this, your cat will most likely be very sickly so keep this in mind while designing your cat. Also, if your cat has a pure white pelt they will most commonly become a sentinel, not a warrior due how hard it is to hunt with a pure white pelt in the mountains. If they become a warrior, hunting will be harder for them. |
2. Migration and Backstories...) | MoonClan is often guarded towards outsiders until they get to know them. This means allegiances and friendships with other clans are minimal at best. There is, however, occasional exceptions (typically with IceClan). No cats ever leave MoonClan. Once you are a MoonClan member it is impossible for your cat to leave, so keep this in mind for character creation. Any cats that attempt to leave, even without announcing their intentions, suddenly disappear without a trace. It is, however, possible for a cat to migrate from another clan into MoonClan. [[This will be explained in a later plot device.]] |
3. Internal Plot Devices...) | As there is currently a "war" of sorts within MoonClan, please be sure to specify which side your cat has allegiance to. There are two leaders currently due to a rift in the clan. For more information, please look at the profiles found here. Your cat can be neutral, on the side of Blossomstar, or on the side of Stormstar. |
